Our first week in the G Academy

Hi guys!

Welcome to our blog, where you can follow our first insights into Gratterpalm and what we have been up to each day. Everyone has been very welcoming and we have had a fun-filled week, with plenty of information to take in.

Monday 10th September 2012

The fabulous HR ladies, Anna and Helen, have taken care of us today. We had an Academy overview and a look at our timetable, which will keep us busy for the first month. We were treated to a tasty team lunch at The Midnight Bell where we all got a chance to get to know each other a little better – seems like we all have a common love for fish, as we all ordered fish and chips.

Liz Mason set us an interesting brief working on a new concept store – we can’t wait to get creative and start brainstorming.

Rachael Bradley came to chat to us today and set us a social media project. So please take a break and have a look at our Pinterest account and YouTube – enjoy a laugh at our embarrassing video diaries.

Darren the MacBook pro showed us round our laptops and has given us the expert lowdown on what to do and what not to do. Darren has already granted Alice the nickname ‘MacBook destroyer’.

Next to the Red Room, our lovely neighbours, Sarah and Rachel, gave us a grand tour of Reception and showed us all the helpful things they do to make our life at work easier. (Amazing organisation ladies.)

Adrian and Jill gave us an insight into the vast world of colour and print. The promotional display material from the Morphy Richards Colour Boutique was a collective favourite of the examples we were shown.

Linsey has upgraded our attention to detail with a wonderful presentation on proofreading. We are already trying to improve our grammar and might all have to buy a dictionary soon.

This afternoon we went on our first Greggs shoot to the Kirkstall store. The weather wasn’t being too kind when the heavens opened and nearly flooded the car park.

Thursday 13th September 2012

Chris McCash made us all think about what type of shopper we were after explaining ShopFront segmentation, which was very cool. Ben and Sean definitely appreciated the sports pitch, which was presented to us.

This afternoon we went out and split into two teams to do some market research for our project.

Jane took us through the scary world of Gratterpalm’s Job Manager this morning. The practising begins.
